I just saw the author on the Today Show. I couldn’t stop laughing. First of all French women do NOT wear black berets, especially indoors. I live in Switzerland and my daughter goes to school in France. So, I’m in France twice a day and have many French friends. I can tell you that there are bratty French kids and bad French parents just as there are bratty kids and bad parents from any nationality. The author just seems to be an American who seems to be intimidate by living in France and French people.

I will agree that French kids do eat a wider variety of foods because the French school cafeterias serve a wide range of traditional French food. Most French restaurants’ kids menus, however, are just like an American restaurants: chicken nuggest and fries. And, French kids eat a lot of candy, the gummy, stick to your teeth kind of candy.

Don’t get me wrong. I actually like French people, but French parents can’t teach me – or you – anything that a good parent from any nationality can. Don’t waste your money. Get yourself a good parenting book. Good parenting knows no nationality.
